About the Conference

The Mexican Association for International Education, A. C. (AMPEI) Annual Conference is an excellent opportunity to meet the main actors working to internationalize higher education.

This year we celebrate our thirtieth conference. Ours is an academic space which brings together heads of HEIs associated with AMPEI, officials, teachers and researchers and specialists in higher education from Mexico and abroad, national government authorities , representatives of international organizations, students and the general public, to discuss the most relevant topics in higher education.

In its 30th edition with the theme "Migration and inclusion: challenges and opportunities for sustainable international education" it aims to raise awareness of the post-pandemic problem regarding academic migration as a way to promote the generation of public policies that favor international collaboration.

Internationalization is neither independent nor separate from migration. Migration, considered as a economic-social-cultural phenomenon, has historically forged the bases of international alliances and formed new cultures and nations. We cannot conceive of global citizenship without considering the causes, consequences and benefits that migration brings about. Now with greater interconnectivity through virtual environments, borders become more permeable. We have greater capacity to weave new and stronger networks and to aspire to contribute through the better opportunities that they make available.

This year, AMPEI is collaborating with the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC) to co-organize this event together with CONAHEC's XXI North American Higher Education Conference and unite our networks. In doing so we will enhance opportunities for Mexican Institutions and engage US, Canadian and other higher education institutions interested in collaborating with the North American higher education community. CONAHEC and AMPEI have a long history working together, and at this time will collaborate to renew the engagement with Mexican and North American higher education institutions to put our international higher education collaboration on a renewed, sustainable trajectory.
