The Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport in Tuxtla Gutiérrez is located 30 minutes from the downtown area, so ground transportation direct from the airport to San Cristóbal de Las Casas is limited to two options.
The most comfortable way is by taking an Airport Taxi, but the overall cost of the fare is usually considerably higher than the second option, approximately 800 Mexican Pesos (approximately 40 US Dollars). Many travelers arrange with other passengers on the same flight to share the taxi and pay for it together for considerable savings. The maximum number of passengers in a standart Taxi is 4.
A second option is to take a "Sprinter" or "Combi", which normally run on schedules in accordance with the arrival times of larger inbound flights. Tickets can be purchased after baggage claim and are quite affordable. The most comfortable line is ADO. If you decide to purchase your ticket in advance through the ADO website, be aware that not all trips from Tuxtla Gutierrez to San Cristobal originate at the airport (some departures might be from the downtown area). If purchasing on the ADO website, be sure to find a ticket on the "ADO Aeropuerto" line with San Cristobal as its destination.
In this terminal you can take the sprinters or combis to the city of San Cristobal. They leave every 15 minutes. The trip duration is approximately one hour. This is the fastest way to get there without advanced purchase and prices range from 50 to 100 pesos.
From downtown Tuxtla Gutierres in its Central Plaza Las Americas, you can go to the ADO Bus Terminal and get on an ADO bus to San Cristobal. You can check prices and departure times on the ADO Website.
If buying a ticket to San Cristobal from Tuxtla Gutierrez on the website, please be sure to check what bus terminal the ticket will depart from (downtown or the airport etc.)
